Supporting Our Troops (Information for the Community)
What is W.I.N.G.S?
W.I.N.G.S stands for Warrior Information, Networking, and Giving Support. It is our mission to support those who have made the sacrifices to support and protect us. W.I.N.G.S provides support for service members and their families in our local community and through projects abroad, such as sending care packages. We strive not only to support our troops but also to educate others about the importance of giving back to those who have given so much.
Why is it called W.I.N.G.S?
When one thinks about wings and the military, usually they think about pilots earning their wings. The name for this ministry comes from Psalm 91, which is often called the Soldier's Prayer or the Soldier's Psalm. Psalm 91 states, "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart." Psalm 91:1-4 NIV
