We enjoyed our first Vacation Bible School in August of 2008.  All of the children had a fantastic time learning about Jesus through Bible stories, games and songs.  We enjoyed good food and lots of great fellowship!

Heather Collins is a resident of Nelson County who was in a terrible car accident earlier this year.  She sustained severe injuries to her brain, and it seemed as though nearly every bone in her body was broken.  The doctors did not believe Heather would ever recover, but she is currently proving that we serve a God of miracles!  Heather is talking, recovering physically, and is expected to make a full recovery.  She is undergoing rehabilitation in Atlanta, Georgia at one of the country’s premier brain injury centers. While Heather had some insurance, her uncovered medical expenses are adding up rapidly, and transport to and from the clinic in Georgia was not covered at all.

Over 80 cars, trucks and motorcycles came out to see and be seen at the benefit Cruz-In held on August 16, 2008.  We had good food, good music and fabulous prizes and auction items. The pictures below just scratch the surface of this wonderful event.  All together, the Collins Benefit Cruz-In raised over $6,600.

The organizers of the event wish to thank all of the members of the community who volunteered and all of the businesses who supplied items for the auction or prizes for the raffles.  This would not have been nearly as successful as it was without your help.

UPDATE:  Heather is now back home in Nelson County, doing very well.  For more information on Heather’s surprise homecoming party, click here.  She married her long-time boyfriend, Brian Dodd, and is now Heather Dodd.

We had a fantastic second annual VBS!  We were able to share the gospel with even more children than in 2008, and enjoy a great time at Son Rock Kid’s Camp.
